Character Consistency: Keeping the Same Face Across 100 Images

Why consistency is the whole game

One great AI image is a novelty; a hundred images of the same character is a content business. Character consistency separates hobby generation from publishable pipelines — and it's a system, not luck.

Build a canonical reference library

Don't rely on a single reference photo. Assemble 4–6 approved images of your character: front-facing neutral, three-quarter angle, smile, different lighting. Generate these once with Face Generator + Variations, then treat the library as immutable — every future generation references one of these.

Reference strength, decoded

• High — new scene obeys the reference closely. Use for feed posts where recognition matters.
• Medium — balanced. Use for outfit/scene changes where small drift is acceptable.
• Low — inspiration only. Use for stylized art of the character, not identity content.

When identity drifts, the fix is almost always: higher strength + cleaner reference + simpler scene prompt.

Prompt anatomy for reference generation

Lead with the identity anchor, then the delta:

same person, [ONE scene change], [ONE outfit change], [lighting], [mood]

Change one major variable per generation. "Same person, new city, new outfit, new hairstyle, new lighting" gives the model too many degrees of freedom — identity is what bends first.

Batch and select

Generate 4 outputs per run and select the most on-identity result. Selection is part of the pipeline: expect to keep one in three or four when scenes get ambitious.

Repair drift with the editor

Minor drift (eye color, hair length) is often faster to fix with a targeted Image Editor instruction than to regenerate: "make the eyes green like the reference, keep everything else unchanged."

The weekly workflow

1. Monday: pick 6 scenes from your content plan
2. Generate 4 variants each from the canonical library
3. Select winners, upscale to 4K
4. Wednesday: animate the two best with Image to Video
5. Schedule everything — the character never sleeps
